Actress Lydia Forson is questioning the necessity of the SIM card re-registration exercise as announced by Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President of Ghana.
Speaking at the 5th Ghana CEO summit in Accra, Bawumia stated that the government will in June 2021 begin an exercise to re-register the SIM card of every Ghanaian.
Forson seems not to agree with the decision to implement the policy.
In a tweet sighted by Ghanaarticles.com, she shared her objection to the idea with a question: “Why?”
Why you say?….. so they can introduce another tax to us. The 9th new tax component” joked Kingsley Zaato.

According to our previous reports, Bawumia warned that anyone who fails to take part in the re-registration of the SIM card with the National Identification card risks losing his or her SIM card.
“…Everybody will have to register their SIM with a National ID number,” stated Bawumia.
