The Senior Staff Association of Public Universities remains undecided on whether to end their strike, despite the National Labour Commission (NLC) urging them to suspend the industrial action until a meeting with the government on February 1, 2024.
The strike, initiated due to the government’s alleged neglect of issues concerning pensions and the purported wrongful termination of overtime allowances, persists. Isaac Donkoh, the National Chairman of the association, conveyed that a meeting scheduled within the week would determine whether to halt the strike or continue while engaging with the government.
Donkoh explained, “We are still on strike at the moment. So we are expecting that engagement, and we hope and pray that the engagement will yield some positive results. Unfortunately, we planned to meet last week Friday, but we couldn’t convene. So we are planning to schedule a meeting within the week before we meet the government. So we are yet to meet and decide.”
