Self-Proclaimed Healer Arrested in Uganda with 24 Human Skulls

A Ugandan man, Ddamulira Godfrey, has been arrested after police discovered 24 human skulls in his possession, sparking fears that they were being used for human sacrifice. The discovery was made at his shrine in the suburbs of Kampala, the capital.

Patrick Onyango, a police spokesperson, stated that Godfrey will be charged under the Prevention and Prohibition of Human Sacrifice Act, which prohibits the possession of human body parts and instruments used in human sacrifices. If convicted, he could face life imprisonment.

In addition to the skulls, animal remains and skins were also found at the shrine. The police continue to search the premises for more human remains.

Despite Godfrey’s claims of being a traditional healer and herbalist, the country’s Traditional Healers’ Association has distanced itself from him.

This arrest follows a similar case last month, where 17 human skulls were recovered from a shrine in Uganda’s Mpigi district, believed to be linked to ritualistic human sacrifices. In some parts of Africa, there is a belief that magic charms made from human body parts can bring good luck or be used to curse enemies.
