Scarlett Johansson Sues Disney

Whew! Scarlett Johansson isn’t playing any games with her “Black Widow” coins!

According to The Wall Street Journal, the award-winning actress filed a lawsuit against Disney The lawsuit, filed in the Los Angeles Superior Court, alleges that Disney breached their contract with Scarlett by releasing the Marvel film in theaters and on Disney+ at the same time.

Apparently, the agreement between both parties was that ‘Black Widow’ would be exclusively released in theaters. Scarlett, who played the main character in the Marvel joint, said in her lawsuit that her salary depended largely on the film’s box office performance. The movie reportedly earned $80 million dollars at the US box office and $78 million overseas during its opening weekend. But, the lawsuit claims adding the film to Disney+ allegedly cost Scarlett over $50 million. Days after the premiere, ticket sales for the movie dropped faster than most of Marvel’s previous films.

“Disney intentionally induced Marvel’s breach of the agreement, without justification, in order to prevent Ms. Johansson from realizing the full benefit of her bargain with Marvel,” according to the lawsuit documents.

‘Black Widow’ earned about $60 million in Disney+ streams, where subscribers were offered $30 at-home purchases. However, The Wall Street Journal reports that a company spokesman has shut down talks of the lawsuit having any merit saying Disney “fully complied with Ms. Johansson’s contract.”

“…and furthermore, the release of Black Widow on Disney+ with Premier Access has significantly enhanced her ability to earn additional compensation on top of the $20 million she has received to date,” the Disney spokesman allegedly said.

The lawsuit documents claim otherwise saying Scarlett attempted to renegotiate her earnings after learning about the simultaneous release, but neither Disney or Marvel responded. Pre-pandemic, Scarlett was reportedly “concerned” about Disney wanting a dual-release, but was reassured in a 2019 email from Marvel Chief Counsel Dave Galluzzi that wouldn’t be the case. The executive said the movie’s release would follow a “traditional theatrical model” and they’d “come to an understanding” if the plan changed.

Scarlett’s lawsuit also claims ‘Black Widow’ was released on the streaming platform to grow its audience — given that Disney Chairman Robert Iger and Chief Executive Bob Chapek depend on the performance of Disney+ for their annual bonuses.

“In short, the message to—and from— Disney’s top management was clear: increase Disney+ subscribers, never mind your contractual promises, and you will be rewarded,” the lawsuit stated.

But Disney fired back at those notes saying the lawsuit is “sad and distressing in its callous disregard for the horrific and prolonged global effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.” Amid the unpredictable circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent theater closings, Disney opted to release more films via their streaming platform, ‘Black Widow’ being one.

As you may already know, Scarlett joined Marvel’s world in 2010 on ‘Iron Man 2’ as the Black Widow character. The latest movie and focus of this lawsuit  is said to be her ninth and last Marvel movie.

“This will surely not be the last case where Hollywood talent stands up to Disney and makes it clear that, whatever the company may pretend, it has a legal obligation to honor its contracts,” said one of Scarlett’s attorneys John Berlinski.

Lil Nas X Slams Critics For Saying He Is Not A Good Mentor Fit For Kids

Lil Nas X’s name has been hitting headlines like hotcakes, and it doesn’t look like people will stop talking about him anytime soon.

The rapper’s recent decision to outwardly express his personality and sexuality hasn’t rubbed everyone the right way, but he stands by every decision he’s made thus far.

During an appearance on an American show, Breakfast Club with Dj Envy and crew discussed how Nas has made a name for himself in the music industry, as well as the controversy surrounding his ‘Montero’ performances. Lil Nas X has been publicly criticized for the impact his risqué performances may have on children, to which Nas said “f*ck them kids”.

“So? Like, f*ck them kids,” he said. “Not like f*ck them kids. But, we really get once chance to do this, at least to my knowledge. I don’t know what happens when we die, so it’s like I’m not about to pander to your kids or you.”’

He went on to express that he wants to live his life freely, without worrying about the negative things people have to say about him and his music.

But it’s like I honestly really truly wanna live by this is our life. We need to do this sh*t so f*ck what anybody else has to say about it.”

This is not the first time Lil Nas X has defended himself, though. If y’all recall, Nas responded to Peter Thomas, who called his recent behavior “disturbing” for his grandsons to see.

“Stop using y’all lil booger nosed kids as shields, hate gay people with your chest,” he tweeted.

Would you approve for your child to pick Lil Nas X as a role model?

Nicki Minaj Addresses Issues With Twitter, Says She’ll Never Use The Platform Again

Nicki Minaj continues to have the internet going crazy. On the night of Met Gala, she released a series of tweets addressing the COVID-19 vaccination, and those tweets have made their way to several news outlets.

The controversial tweets have had Nicki calling out people left and right, and today she went live on Instagram to get a few things off her chest. She revealed that she’s reportedly in Twitter jail following the tweets about her cousin’s alleged reaction to the COVID-19 vaccine in Trinidad.

Although the viewers on the live couldn’t see her face, they definitely could hear her voice. She started addressing Twitter, saying that she’ll never go back on the platform because it was starting to feel a little scary. Nicki recalled, “I remember when I was when I was a little girl, and I would be taken to church. Sometimes the people in church would tell us, “Be happy that you’re able to praise God freely because some people in so many countries in the world can’t praise the God they’d like to praise freely.”

As she continued explaining, she said that this experience motivated her to be in church because some people don’t get this luxury. While she continued speaking, she shifted to the topic of the vaccine. Nicki mentioned that people should be able to ask questions about anything that’s being put in their bodies. The “Queen” claimed that we are living in a time when people will turn their back on you for not agreeing with your thoughts and views, and people will isolate you if you simply speak and ask a question.

Nicki was called out when she shared news about her cousin in Trinidad who had allegedly become impotent after taking the COVID-19 vaccine. “I’m seeing Black women on Twitter, Black women I follow acting like this is funny,” Nicki stated. Before ending the live, she said that she didn’t give any facts about the vaccine and reiterated that she didn’t want to travel with her small child, Papa Bear. Currently, Nicki’s Twitter is still up.

Nicki Minaj’s COVID-19 Vaccine ‘Swollen Testicles’ Claim Is False, Says Trinidad Health Minister

Nicki Minaj's COVID-19 Vaccine 'Swollen Testicles' Claim Is False, Says Trinidad Health Minister

Trinidad and Tobago Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh on Wednesday criticized as “false” the claim by American rapper Nicki Minaj that a person on the Caribbean island suffered swollen testicles after receiving a COVID-19 vaccine.

Trinidad-born Minaj sparked an international furor when she alleged on Twitter that her cousin in Trinidad refuses to get a vaccine because his friend become impotent after being vaccinated.

“His testicles became swollen. His friend was weeks away from getting married, now the girl called off the wedding,” Minaj, who has 22.6 million Twitter followers, said on Monday.

The comments triggered an international backlash, with senior U.S. and British coronavirus officials condemning the claims.

Deyalsingh also denounced the statement by the Grammy-nominated artist as a waste of time.

“One of the reasons why we could not respond yesterday in real-time to Miss Minaj is that we had to check and make sure that what she was claiming was either true or false. Unfortunately, we wasted so much time yesterday running down this false claim,” Deyalsingh said.

When asked about Minaj’s tweets, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the top U.S. infectious disease expert, said there was a lot of misinformation on social media.

“I’m not blaming her for anything – but she should be thinking twice about propagating information that really has no basis as except a one-off anecdote, and that’s not what science is all about.”

Minaj said in a separate tweet that she had not been able to complete enough research of her own on the COVID-19 vaccines to get one in time for the Met Gala, a star-studded fundraiser for New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Later, Minaj added that she will get vaccinated to be able to tour.
