The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested three foreign nationals for their alleged involvement in SIM box fraud operations at the Sakumono Ramsar Site in Accra.
The arrests were carried out on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, following intelligence-led operations conducted in separate residential apartments within the area.
The suspects have been identified as Timileyin Fakunle, aged 30; Begun Adedeji, 31; and Olamide Roheemot, 28. Police indicated that the suspects were apprehended in different apartments suspected to be linked to the illegal operation.
A search of the premises led to the retrieval of several sophisticated electronic devices, SIM boxes, and assorted SIM cards believed to have been used for fraudulent telecommunications activities.
During interrogation, the suspects mentioned two other accomplices, identified only as Mike and Kpalumi, who are currently on the run. They also revealed that the alleged leader of the syndicate, identified as Tomy, a Chinese national who reportedly controls the SIM boxes remotely, is also at large.
The Police say they are collaborating with the National Communications Authority (NCA) to facilitate the safe removal and technical examination of the seized exhibits to support ongoing investigations.
The suspects are currently in police custody while investigations continue.
Meanwhile, the Accra Regional Police Command has cautioned the public, particularly property owners, against renting or subletting premises to unknown persons without proper background checks. Residents have also been urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the Police.
The Command reiterated its commitment to combating cybercrime and telecommunication-related offences across the region.
