The University of Ghana has officially announced the reappointment of Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo as Vice-Chancellor for a second four-year term, beginning in October 2025. This decision, made unanimously by the University’s Governing Council on December 19, 2024, follows a thorough evaluation of her first-term achievements and a rigorous selection process aligned with the University’s Statutes.

‎Key Achievements During Her First Term  

‎During her initial term, Professor Amfo introduced transformative initiatives, including:

‎- Modernisation of Classrooms across all campuses.

‎- Launch of the One-Student-One-Laptop (1S1L) Initiative.

‎- Establishment of Hotspot Comfort Zones for improved connectivity.

‎- Creation of the Centre for Disability Studies and Advocacy (CEDSA).

‎- Implementation of Gender and Internship Policies.

‎- Resolution of the University’s significant debt burden.

‎- Founding of the Legon Leadership Academy, fostering academic growth and inclusivity.

‎As the first female Vice-Chancellor, Professor Amfo’s leadership is characterised by innovation and collaboration. She has received multiple awards, including:

‎- The Legacy and Gadia State Award (2023).

‎- The Ghana Woman of the Year for Excellence in Education Award (2023).
