During the launch of Ghana’s National Anti-Corruption Action Plan evaluation, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo reiterated his commitment to non-interference in ongoing investigations, particularly those involving former Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Abena Dapaah.
Addressing concerns about executive influence in investigations, President Akufo-Addo emphasized that there has been no evidence or allegations indicating the executive branch’s attempt to sway the outcomes of probes into his appointees. Specifically addressing Cecilia Abena Dapaah’s case, he highlighted the transparency of the investigation, stating, “No evidence or allegation has been forthcoming that the executive has made any attempt to influence the outcome of these investigations.”
He further highlighted the government’s stance by referencing past corruption-related instances in the Mahama administration. Akufo-Addo pointed out convictions and ongoing trials of officials in the previous administration, drawing a comparison to the investigations within his government.
Cecilia Dapaah, the former Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, remains under the scrutiny of the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) for alleged corruption and related offenses. The investigation gained attention following the discovery of over $1 million in cash at her residence.
