President Akufo-Addo Honors GH¢1 Million Pledge to Medeama SC for CAF Champions League Campaign

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has fulfilled his commitment of GH¢1 million to bolster Medeama SC’s endeavors in the 2023/2024 CAF Champions League. This pledge was initially announced during the trophy presentation ceremony for the Ghana Premier League at the Jubilee House on August 2nd, 2023.

The actualization of this promise saw the transfer of the pledged sum to Medeama Sporting Club via the Member of Parliament for Takwa Nsuem, George Mireku Duker. This was accomplished through the auspices of the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, who facilitated the handover.

In a statement shared on social media, the Minister highlighted, “I had the honor of delivering GH¢1 million from H.E. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to Hon. George Mireku Duker, MP for Takwa Nsuem, on behalf of Medeama Sporting Club. This action fulfilled the President’s commitment to the club for their victory in the 2022/23 league and their subsequent qualification for the CAF Champions League.”

Emphasizing the significance of national pride and sportsmanship, the Minister extended his well wishes to Medeama SC, expressing hopes for their success in the African campaign.

As the tournament progresses, Medeama currently holds the third position in Group D of the ongoing Champions League, having competed in three matches.

The President’s fulfillment of his promise further solidifies the support and encouragement provided to Medeama SC as they represent Ghana on the continental stage, amplifying the spirit of sporting excellence and national representation.
