The Ghana Police Service, through the IGP’s Special Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team, has rescued a young woman who appeared in a viral video with a severe injury to her left eye while pleading for help from pedestrians and motorists. The team also arrested the suspect linked to the incident.
After analysing the video, the Special Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team initiated a rapid intelligence-led operation that led officers to Okushibri near Apollonia, where both the victim and the suspect were found.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect, Bright Kpodo also known as Horror who is the victim’s partner, physically assaulted her, causing the injury captured in the viral footage.
The suspect is currently in police custody assisting with further investigations. Police say arrangements are underway to provide the victim with the needed psychological, medical, and social support.
The Ghana Police Service is urging the public to report all forms of domestic violence for swift investigation and prosecution.
