Police probe gun attack on residence of former NDC Effutu parliamentary candidate

The Ghana Police Service has launched an investigation into a reported gun attack on the residence of former National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Effutu, James Kofi Annan.

The incident is said to have occurred around 2:00 am on Monday, December 29, 2025, at his home in Kasoa.

According to a statement issued by Challenging Heights, a non-governmental organisation founded by Mr Annan, the attack appeared to be targeted. The statement revealed that a projectile fired by an unidentified assailant penetrated the ceiling of the residence and narrowly missed a main living area.

The organisation assured the public that Mr Annan and all members of his household were not harmed during the incident.

Crime officers from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, Kasoa Division, together with the Regional Crime Scene Team, have visited the residence and carried out an initial forensic assessment. The police have since taken over investigations into the matter.

Challenging Heights noted that Mr Annan is fully cooperating with investigators and has also implemented additional security measures to protect himself, his family, and his staff.

The organisation expressed appreciation to the Kasoa Divisional Police Command and the Regional Crime Scene Team for their swift response and professionalism, while urging the public to remain calm as investigations continue.
