Police Launch Manhunt for Individuals Threatening Election Violence

The Ghana Police Service has initiated a manhunt for a group calling themselves the “NDC Youth of Obuasi” following threats of violence ahead of the 2024 General Elections.

The group was seen in a viral video issuing threats to disrupt the upcoming December elections. In response, the police released a statement on November 15, deeming the actions a violation of public peace under Section 207 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).

A coordinated operation is underway to apprehend the individuals involved. Authorities have reiterated their determination to maintain peace during the election period and have issued a stern warning against any actions that jeopardize public safety.
