Police Launch Investigation into Lynching of Prisons Officer at Kasoa

The Ghana Police Service has initiated an investigation into the lynching of a prison officer, Gideon Adu Boakye, at Iron City, a suburb of Kasoa in the Central Region. The tragic incident occurred over the weekend, and the officer, who was stationed at Nsawam Maximum Prison, was reportedly mistaken for a thief.

Boakye had been visiting his parents when the attack took place. His body was later found in a gutter near Hope of Restoration School, close to Red Ball.

According to Supt. Adamu Latif Abdul, Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Prisons Service, the service is working closely with the police to bring the perpetrators to justice. He noted that the officer had gone out to attend to some matters during his visit but failed to return, leading his mother to report his disappearance to the police. Investigations are ongoing to uncover the details surrounding the incident.
