The Volta Regional Police Command has begun investigations into the murder of 32-year-old Julius Sablah, also known as D-Black, and a subsequent mob attack on the Ehi Police Station on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.

In a statement signed by Chief Inspector Francis Kwaku Gomado, Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Command, police said preliminary findings revealed that on Monday, November 3, at about 9:00 p.m., a 25-year-old suspect, Kofi Agbavitor, allegedly stabbed the victim with a jackknife during a confrontation, resulting in his death.

Following the incident, some angry youth pursued the suspect, who fled to the Ehi Police Station for protection. However, the crowd demanded that he be released to them to carry out instant justice — a request the police refused.

The situation quickly escalated when the group mobilised and launched a violent attack on the station, using stones, clubs, and other weapons. They damaged several items, including television sets, office stationery, and other police equipment. The mob also set fire to an exhibit vehicle and vandalised two police vehicles belonging to the District Command.

Police officers on duty were assaulted, while the suspect was beaten until he lost consciousness. Reinforcements were later deployed to restore order and ensure the safety of personnel and the suspect.

Three injured police officers and the suspect were transported to St. Anthony Hospital in Dzodze for medical treatment.

According to the police, CCTV and other video evidence of the attack are being reviewed to identify and arrest those involved for prosecution.

The Ehi Police Station has since been temporarily closed to allow ongoing investigations. The Volta Regional Police Command has urged the public, particularly the youth, to avoid mob actions and to seek lawful means for resolving disputes rather than resorting to violence.
