The Ghana Police Service has issued a 24-hour ultimatum to the management of the Swedru School of Business (SWESBUS) to produce students allegedly involved in the assault of a student from Obrachire Senior High Technical School during a district inter-schools athletics competition.

The directive was announced on Monday, February 23, 2026, during a meeting between police officials and the school’s management following the incident, which occurred on February 20.

The Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Lydia Yaako Donkor, warned that the Service would resort to stricter enforcement measures if the suspects are not presented within the stipulated timeframe.

She explained that while the Police have several methods at their disposal to effect arrests, they are exercising restraint because the matter involves a school environment. However, she emphasized that failure by the school authorities to cooperate would compel the Police to take decisive action.

According to DCOP Donkor, the incident goes beyond mere indiscipline and constitutes a criminal act. She cautioned that the Service would not hesitate to intervene directly if the suspects are not produced.
