
The Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohonu in coordination with the National Security Coordinator has deployed hundreds of police and army officers for a special security operation in the Ahafo Region.
During the operation, security forces arrested numerous miscreants in Hwidiem as part of an intelligence-led exercise aimed at restoring law and order.
The operation comes in the wake of attacks on NAIMOS officials, EPA officers and journalists during anti-galamsey operations, incidents which reportedly led some to have accident while fleeing.
According to security sources, the exercise forms part of a broader effort to maintain peace and ensure the safety of residents across the region.
Authorities have stated that the operation will continue until total calm is restored and all perpetrators are brought to justice.
