Pastor Appiah Arrested and Charged Over Offensive Social Media Remarks

Pastor Emmanuel Appiah, head of the Emmanuel Army Church, has been arrested and arraigned before an Accra Circuit Court on charges of offensive conduct conducive to breach of the peace and publication of false news.

Appiah, popularly known as Appiah Biblical, is accused of making abusive and offensive statements against Dr Isaac Owusu Bempah, General Overseer of the Glorious Word Power Ministries, across several social media platforms.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The court granted him bail in the sum of GH₵100,000 with three sureties and ordered the prosecution to file and serve disclosures on the accused. The case has been adjourned to December 30, 2025.

According to the prosecution, the complainant intercepted viral videos on social media—particularly YouTube—showing Appiah making statements alleged to cause fear and panic. These remarks reportedly contained multiple allegations against Rev. Owusu Bempah and were considered abusive and provocative.

The statements were made during a livestream and later shared across multiple platforms, including a YouTube page named “SourcetubeTv.” After the video gained traction, the complainant filed a report with the Police, leading to Appiah’s arrest.

Investigators secured forensic copies of the audio and video recordings, which were transcribed with support from the Ghana Institute of Languages and submitted as evidence.
