Parliament Formally Notifies EC of Kpandai Seat Vacancy for Court-Ordered Rerun

Parliament has formally informed the Electoral Commission (EC) of a vacancy in the Kpandai parliamentary seat, following a High Court directive for a rerun of the constituency’s election.

In a letter dated December 4, 2025, Clerk to Parliament Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror notified EC Chairperson Jean Mensa that the vacancy became effective after the Tamale High Court ordered a fresh election for the area. The ruling, issued on November 24, 2025, stemmed from a case in which the Clerk to Parliament was listed as the 4th respondent under Suit Number NR/TL/HC/E13/22/25.

Citing Article 112(5) of the 1992 Constitution, the Clerk stated that the correspondence fulfils the constitutional requirement to officially trigger the EC’s processes for conducting a new parliamentary election in Kpandai.

The communication ends by confirming that the EC has been duly notified to commence preparations for the rerun.
