Parliament has approved the first batch of ministerial nominees appointed by President John Dramani Mahama, following an extensive vetting and debate process.
The nominees who received approval are:
- Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson as Minister for Finance
- John Jinapor as Minister for Energy
- Dr. Dominic Ayine as Attorney General and Minister for Justice
The vetting, conducted by the Appointments Committee on January 13, 2025, involved a rigorous assessment of the nominees’ qualifications, professional experience, and their visions for addressing key challenges in their respective sectors.
After completing the vetting process, the committee presented its report to the full House for debate. The plenary session saw extensive deliberations, with Members of Parliament scrutinizing the nominees’ competence and proposed plans for national development.
At the conclusion of the debates, MPs voted in favor of their approval, enabling the nominees to officially assume their ministerial responsibilities.
This development marks a significant milestone in President Mahama’s efforts to assemble a capable team to deliver on his administration’s priorities for the next four years.
