Parliament has approved a $10.4 million tax waiver for Tata Consultancy Services Limited (TCS) to support the rollout of the Integrated Tax Administration System (ITAS) in 2026.
The waiver exempts TCS from a 20% withholding tax and VAT on its income as part of an IMF-backed programme aimed at strengthening domestic revenue mobilisation.
The agreement, originally signed under the previous NPP administration, is now set for implementation. TCS will work with its Ghana-based Indian partners, IPMC, to execute the project.
Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson stated that the Mahama administration secured a $9 million saving after renegotiating the deal, demonstrating government’s commitment to fiscal prudence and effective public-private partnerships.
The ITAS project is expected to modernise tax administration and improve revenue mobilisation when it becomes operational in 2026.
