A tragic accident along the Zuarungu road in Bolgatanga has left one person dead and several others critically injured after a private vehicle veered off the road and crashed into a tree while trying to avoid a collision with cattle.
The vehicle, traveling from Bolgatanga to Garu, swerved to avoid hitting a cow that had strayed onto the road. In the process, the driver accidentally knocked down a motorcyclist before crashing into the tree.
The motorcyclist died on the spot, while the driver and other occupants of the vehicle sustained severe injuries, including a broken arm for the driver.
The injured have been rushed to the Upper East Regional Hospital in Bolgatanga for medical treatment.
Authorities are investigating the incident, while locals have raised concerns about stray animals on the road posing risks to motorists.
