One person has died and several others have been injured after a cargo truck carrying passengers and goods from Gbandri Market plunged into a broken bridge between Jimbale and Wawa in the Yonyoo Nasuwani District of the North East Region.
The accident occurred around 9 p.m. on Monday, November 17, 2025, when the driver reportedly lost control of the truck, causing it to fall into the damaged bridge.
According to eyewitness Nicholas, the bridge has been in a deplorable state for nearly four years and remains a “death trap” that authorities have repeatedly failed to repair.
The deceased has been transported to the Bunkpurugu Hospital, where the injured are also receiving treatment.
Residents are urging government authorities to immediately repair the bridge to prevent further accidents and loss of life.
