NSS Urges President Akufo-Addo to Sign National Service Bill into Law for Authority and Autonomy

The National Service Scheme (NSS) has appealed to President Nana Akufo-Addo to promptly sign the Ghana National Service Authority Bill 2024 into law to grant the secretariat authority and autonomy. This call was made during the policy launch on April 15, 2024.

Osei Assibey Antwi, the Executive Director of NSS, stressed the importance of strengthening and capacitating the National Service scheme, as well as providing it with significant resources to regulate the mobilization and deployment of personnel. He urged President Akufo-Addo to approve the bill, which is currently awaiting his signature.

Mr. Antwi highlighted that the new law would allow the authority to expand existing programs such as the NSS teaching model and NSS MSME accounting age, further solidifying the NSS scheme’s position as one of the best in West Africa and Africa for deploying service personnel.
