NSMQ 2024: KETASCO Beats Achimota and MPASS to Secure Semi-Final Spot with Star Female Contestant

In a thrilling quarter-final clash of the 2024 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ), Keta Senior High School (KETASCO) delivered a remarkable performance, overpowering Achimota School (Motown) and Mpraeso SHS to secure their spot in the semi-finals.

The intense contest took place on Wednesday, October 23, at the SGS Auditorium in Cape Coast. From the outset, KETASCO, led by their star female contestant, Perpetual Gakpetor, demonstrated their determination to dominate the quiz and reclaim a place in the finals after narrowly missing out in 2023.

Perpetual Gakpetor stood out as one of the best female contestants in this year’s competition, with her sharp intellect and quick responses fueling KETASCO’s success. Her leadership in the team made her an unstoppable force throughout the contest, helping KETASCO rack up 33 points in the first round, while Achimota managed 20 points and Mpraeso SHS trailed with 14.

Achimota mounted a brief comeback in the third round, but KETASCO, driven by the stellar efforts of Gakpetor and her teammates, pushed ahead to widen their lead. By the end of the fourth round, they had secured 48 points, keeping a comfortable distance from Achimota’s 39 and Mpraeso’s 21 points.

This emphatic victory not only solidified KETASCO’s place in the competition but also spotlighted Perpetual Gakpetor as one of the top contenders, especially among female contestants, in this year’s NSMQ. The Volta stars are now poised to continue their quest for the NSMQ trophy and ultimate bragging rights.
