The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced its immediate withdrawal from all Media General platforms, citing concerns over alleged bias and unprofessional political coverage.
In a statement signed by the party’s Director of Communications, Richard Ahiagbah, the NPP detailed ongoing issues since 2023, including unbalanced panel discussions, disruptive hosting, and repeated attacks on prominent party figures.
One incident highlighted involved a program hosted by Keminni Amanor, where a guest allegedly made inflammatory comments about former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. The NPP criticized the host for failing to intervene, labeling it as a failure in professional moderation.
The party also accused programs such as Key Points and Newday of consistently favoring the National Democratic Congress (NDC) by assembling disproportionately skewed panels, often leaving NPP representatives outnumbered.
“Despite repeated assurances since 2023, the observed unprofessionalism and unfairness persist,” the statement noted. Efforts by the party to advocate for balanced and objective coverage were described as “falling on pretentious deaf ears.”
The NPP assured its members and the public that this decision would not hinder its dedication to accountability and instructed all party members to adhere to the directive until further notice.
