President John Dramani Mahama has expressed heartfelt joy at the return of Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang from medical treatment abroad, revealing the political pressure he endured during her absence.

Speaking at an official reception on Thursday, May 22, Mahama warmly welcomed the Vice President back to Ghana, commending her resilience and expressing relief over her recovery.

“I particularly have missed you because even travelling out of the country has been difficult. They’ve threatened to impeach me for going to Togo when you were away,” he disclosed, alluding to political opponents who criticized his movements while Opoku-Agyemang was on medical leave.

The Vice President had been receiving treatment in the United Kingdom following a short illness and was away from public duties for nearly two months. Her return, which took place on May 22, marks the end of her medical leave and signals a resumption of her official responsibilities.

President Mahama added, “So I am the most excited to have you back, so you are warmly welcome,” reaffirming his full support for her as she resumes her role.
