The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has referred former Dome-Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo, to its National Disciplinary Committee following her recent media remarks regarding the party’s defeat in the 2024 general elections.
This decision comes after the party had earlier warned members against making public statements that could create divisions within the party.
In a statement released on Thursday, March 20, 2025, NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong emphasized that Adwoa Safo’s comments violated party directives and hindered efforts to rebuild.
“As she is aware, the directive explicitly states that all party members must cease discussing party issues that create unrest, negativism, and disaffection in the media and other related platforms. Her actions are not only in disregard of this directive but also undermine the Party’s efforts to rebuild and move forward,” the statement read.
The party further noted that, as a former MP, Deputy Majority Leader, and Minister of State, Adwoa Safo was expected to uphold the principles of discipline, loyalty, and unity. However, her public statements were seen as a direct breach of Article 3(5) of the party’s constitution, which mandates members to defend the party’s image.
Given these concerns, the NPP has formally referred her case to the National Disciplinary Committee for further action. The outcome of the committee’s deliberations will determine the next steps regarding her status within the party.
