The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) Task Force has raided an illegal mining site known as “Yellow Face” at Wassa Abrehyia in the Western Region. The dawn operation on November 15, 2025, forced miners to flee the area to avoid arrest.
Officers dismantled the site, burning makeshift structures and equipment used for the illegal mining. The team also uncovered large quantities of illicit drugs and dynamite, revealing the extent of criminal activity taking place there.
NAIMOS says similar targeted operations will continue in the coming days as part of efforts to clamp down on illegal mining and the drug-related activities linked to such sites.
