President John Dramani Mahama has assured Ghanaians, particularly indigenes of the Volta Region, that his government’s appointments will prioritize merit, competence, and regional balance. He emphasized that his administration is committed to inclusivity and the equitable representation of all regions in the nation’s governance.
This assurance follows reports of vandalism at the National Democratic Congress (NDC) office in Ho, allegedly by individuals dissatisfied with the perceived exclusion of a Ho Central indigene in the President’s recent ministerial appointments.
During his visit to Ho as part of his “Thank You” tour, President Mahama addressed these concerns, acknowledging the region’s expectations and reassuring residents of their active inclusion in his administration.
“I also recognize the anticipation of appointments from this region, and as has been said, so far so good. Let me assure you that your contributions and talents have not been overlooked,” he stated.
The President reiterated his commitment to appointing individuals based on key principles, including merit, competence, regional balance, gender equity, and readiness to serve.
“Appointments will be guided by principles of merit, competence, regional balance, gender equity, and availability to serve,” he emphasized.
President Mahama also pledged to end the neglect the Volta Region has experienced in the past, assuring residents of his administration’s focus on addressing their developmental needs.
“The Volta Region has long been a victim of unfulfilled promises, but as I said, I assure you that this era of neglect will end under this administration,” he remarked.
Residents responded positively to the President’s assurances, expressing hope for meaningful development and active participation in shaping the nation’s future.
