Ghana’s mobile money sector has reached a new milestone, with total transactions hitting GHC 365.0 billion in April 2025, according to the Bank of Ghana’s latest summary of economic and financial data.
This marks a 3.8% increase from the GHC 351.7 billion recorded in March 2025 and represents the highest monthly transaction value so far this year underscoring the growing reliance on mobile money platforms for both personal and commercial financial activities.
The number of transactions also rose significantly, from 764 million in March to 778 million in April, further reflecting the increasing use of mobile money as a preferred means of payment.
Analysts attribute this growth to expanding mobile network coverage, a growing number of agents, and the ease of access to mobile financial services.
The trend is expected to continue as Ghana’s digital economy advances and regulatory support for mobile money remains strong.
