Ministry of Interior Imposes Indefinite Curfew on Sampa Township in Bono Region Due to Chieftaincy Despute

The Minister for the Interior, Henry Quartey, has announced the imposition of a curfew on Sampa Township in the Jaman North District of the Bono Region. This decision, made on the advice of the Bono Regional Security Council, comes amidst ongoing tensions related to the Jaman chieftaincy dispute.

The curfew, effective immediately, will be in place from 4:00 pm to 7:00 am each day until further notice. Additionally, there is a total ban on the carrying of arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons within the township. Anyone found in possession of such items will be arrested and prosecuted.

In a press release, the Minister urged the Chiefs, Opinion Leaders, Youth, and People of the area to exercise restraint and to use non-violent means to address their grievances.

The Ministry of Justice and Attorney General’s Department has been notified of the situation.
