Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has issued an unreserved apology to the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), notably President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and other party officials, in a video circulating on social media. Adwoa Safo cited personal and family challenges as the reason for her extended absence from Parliament, which lasted over a year. She expressed her remorse and sought forgiveness from the NPP leadership and supporters.
During her absence, Adwoa Safo’s parliamentary seat became vacant, leading to calls for it to be declared as such. In 2022, she was summoned to the Privileges Committee of Parliament.
In her apology, Adwoa Safo extended her regret to various party members, including the Chief of Staff, Hon. Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah Bonsu, fellow MPs, and the Majority caucus. She emphasized that her actions were not deliberate disrespect but a consequence of her personal and family issues.
She went on to plea for forgiveness from regional executives, constituency executives, NPP headquarters, the General Secretary, National Chairman, and all party supporters and sympathizers who had faith in her and the constituency. Adwoa Safo asked for their understanding and forgiveness in the name of the Lord.
