Mankessim Man Jailed 16 Years for Defilement

A Circuit Court in Cape Coast has sentenced a man identified as Eric Asamoah to sixteen (16) years imprisonment in hard labour for defilement.

According to a press release issued by the Public Affairs Unit of the Ghana Police Service, Cape Coast, the case was heard on November 6, 2025, at the Circuit Court Two, presided over by Her Honour Nana Aba Quaiba Nunoo.

The incident, which occurred on November 2, 2025, led to the arrest and prosecution of Asamoah. During the court proceedings, the accused person pleaded guilty to the charge of defilement. He was consequently convicted on his own plea and handed a sixteen-year jail term with hard labour.

Eric Asamoah has since been transferred to the Ankaful Prison to begin serving his sentence.

The Ghana Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that perpetrators of sexual offenses face the full rigours of the law and urged the public to report such crimes promptly to aid investigations.
