First Lady of Ghana, Lordina Mahama, has donated food items and essential supplies to six orphanages across the country ahead of the Christmas festivities.
The beneficiary institutions are Osu Children’s Home and Christ Faith Foster Home at Frafraha in the Greater Accra Region; Bethesda and FrankMay Homes in the Bono East Region; as well as Anfaani Children’s Home and Tamale Children’s Home in the Northern Region.
The donations were made through the Lordina Foundation and form part of Mrs. Mahama’s long-standing tradition of supporting six adopted orphanages across three regions of Ghana. For over two decades, the foundation has provided food and sanitary items to these homes during festive seasons, driven by compassion for vulnerable children.
In addition to the orphanages, the foundation has consistently supported residents of the Gambaga “Witches Camp” for nearly 20 years, supplying them with essential items during Christmas and Easter celebrations.
This year’s donation package included bags of rice and gari, cooking oil, boxes of mackerel and sardines, spaghetti, Milo, Nido milk powder, tom brown, full-cream milk, biscuits, assorted drinks, bottled water, chocolates, tissue paper, sanitary pads, diapers, and liquid soap.
As part of the celebrations, the Lordina Foundation partnered with the La Bonne Femme group to host a Christmas party for children at the Osu Children’s Home. The event featured a variety of meals, snacks, and fun activities such as musical chairs, dance competitions, and a bouncing castle.
Board members of the Lordina Foundation were present at the event, along with notable guests including the Deputy Chief of Staff, Hon. Nana Oye Bampoe Addo.
Delivering a message on behalf of the First Lady, the foundation’s chairman conveyed festive greetings, stating that Mrs. Mahama’s heartfelt wish is to see the children happy, smiling, and filled with hope during the Christmas season.
Hon. Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, who also serves as Technical Director at the Office of the First Lady, shared a message from Mrs. Mahama, reassuring the children of her love and support despite her absence. She encouraged them to remain obedient and respectful, expressing confidence that God would bless them.
Through these continuous charitable initiatives, the Lordina Foundation remains committed to promoting hope, compassion, and inclusion among Ghana’s poor and vulnerable, with particular focus on women and children.
