The President of Ghana and the acting chairman of ECOWAS, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has failed to persuade the leaders of the 2020 Mali Coup D’etat to peacefully handover power to the surveillance government.
Speaking at the opening of the consolidation meeting with the African Heads of State Ghana, under the theme Political Crisis. The acting chairman of the ECOWAS said they cannot afford to delay to restore peace in Mali.
President Akufo-Addo expressed hope that the Coup D’etat leaders will return to Mali next week to try and resolve any outstanding issues, so that the sanctions could be lifted hopefully in days and not in weeks.
According the ECOWAS chairman, the leader of the military is on his way back to Damako to hold consultations with those who are responsible for making the decisions and get to know their views.
