Kumasi Youth Reportedly Vandalize Techiman-Bound Buses at Akyemfour

Tensions escalated in Kumasi as armed youths attacked the Akyemfour Bus Terminal, targeting vehicles bound for Techiman. The incident, which occurred yesterday, left several buses vandalized in what the attackers claimed was retaliation for a reported altercation in Techiman earlier this week.

The unrest stems from an alleged attack in Techiman on Monday, where youths reportedly targeted buses escorting the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, after a funeral. In retaliation, the Kumasi youth used machetes and clubs to damage the windshields of about eight buses, including a sprinter bus, a sienna, and a saloon car.

According to a driver who spoke to Otec FM, the terminal has become deserted as passengers and drivers fled for safety.

The incident has heightened tensions between the two communities, prompting calls for intervention from security agencies. Police have assured the public that investigations are ongoing and those responsible will face justice.
