The political dispute over the Kpandai Constituency parliamentary seat has escalated to the Supreme Court as incumbent NPP MP Mathew Nyindam seeks to overturn a High Court ruling that annulled his 2024 election win.
Nyindam argues that the High Court, Commercial Division in Tamale, lacked jurisdiction because the original election petition was filed outside the statutory 21-day deadline. The NDC candidate, Daniel Nsala Wakpal, had submitted the petition on January 25, 2025, which was 11 days past the deadline following the official gazette publication of results on December 24, 2024.
The High Court had annulled the Kpandai election on November 24, 2025, ordering a rerun within 30 days. Nyindam’s legal team now seeks a judicial review (certiorari) to quash the ruling and all proceedings arising from the allegedly invalid petition, arguing that upholding it would undermine justice and statutory limits.
The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear the case on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.
