KNUST Civil Engineering Students Involved in an Accident

A tragic incident unfolded on the morning of Saturday, February 3, 2024, as a bus transporting fourth-year students from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Obuasi campus’ Civil Engineering department was involved in a collision. The accident occurred during their journey to a scheduled field trip.

The unfortunate event was confirmed via a statement on the Voice of KNUST Twitter page, stating, “In the early hours of the day, a KNUST Campride (Shuttle) conveying level 400 students from the Civil Engineering department of the Obuasi Campus to a field trip collided with an SUV. ”

Despite the severity of the collision between the KNUST Campride shuttle and the SUV, it is with relief that no fatalities were reported. All 50 students aboard the shuttle were, fortunately, unharmed. Swift action was taken, with the students promptly examined at the KNUST hospital, where they were declared fit following a thorough checkup.

Acknowledging the emotional impact of such an incident, the university has provided counseling support to the affected students. The administration is ensuring that the students receive the necessary assistance to cope with the aftermath of this unsettling experience.
