A fire outbreak at Kadjebi-Asato Senior High School in the Oti Region on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, left several students collapsing in panic after one of the boys’ dormitory rooms was completely destroyed.
The incident occurred around 9:00 a.m., razing the entire room and burning all belongings inside. The fire also ripped through the roofing structure, leaving the affected area severely damaged.
Firefighters who responded to the call were unable to use the district’s fire tender, which was not functional. They resorted to improvised firefighting measures, slowing down efforts to contain the blaze and allowing the fire to spread more rapidly.
The situation triggered fear among students, many of whom rushed to salvage items from nearby rooms. Some students collapsed during the chaos but were quickly assisted by school authorities and community members.
All affected students have since received prompt attention.
