Jean Mensa to Face Parliament Over Ablekuma North Election Deadlock

Electoral Commission Chairperson, Jean Mensa, is set to appear before Parliament this week to address the ongoing electoral impasse in the Ablekuma North Constituency.

The constituency has been without parliamentary representation since the December 7 general elections, following a dispute over the collation of results from several polling stations. The unresolved issue has left residents without an elected Member of Parliament for more than six months.

On June 4, the Minority Caucus petitioned the Ghana Police Service, requesting enhanced security measures to ensure a safe and transparent re-collation of the disputed results.

Jean Mensa is expected to update Parliament’s Committee of the Whole on steps taken by the Electoral Commission to resolve the stalemate. Lawmakers will also seek clarification on the EC’s projected timeline for completing the collation process and announcing the final results.
