Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has proclaimed himself as the most effective vice president in Ghana’s history since independence.
During the ceremony in Kumasi where Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO) was unveiled as his running mate, Dr. Bawumia highlighted his exceptional performance, which he claims is even acknowledged by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He compared his achievements with those of NDC flagbearer John Mahama, arguing that Mahama failed during his tenure as vice president, whereas he (Bawumia) has shown outstanding leadership in the same role.
Dr. Bawumia emphasized that the 2024 election is a choice between progress and regression, underscoring his credentials as a forward-thinking leader.
“The choice is between the future and the past. He [Mahama] has been president before and he failed. I’m just a vice president, I’ve not been a president before, but everyone can attest that I’ve been the most effective vice president in the history of Ghana.
“Even the NDC know that. There’s been no hard-working vice president than me since independence. So the 2024 election is about going forward or backwards.”
