IGP Promotes 17 Police Officers for Exemplary Service

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, on January 14, 2026, promoted seventeen police officers, including two senior officers, to their next ranks in recognition of their exemplary service to the Ghana Police Service.

The promotions were awarded in acknowledgment of the officers’ outstanding conduct, professionalism, and dedication to duty. According to the Police Service, the beneficiaries distinguished themselves through exceptional performance in the discharge of their responsibilities, particularly in the areas of operational excellence, discipline, and commitment to national service.

The initiative forms part of the Ghana Police Service’s broader strategy to motivate personnel who consistently demonstrate integrity, competence, and a strong sense of responsibility in the line of duty.

IGP Yohuno, together with members of the Police Management Board (POMAB), congratulated the promoted officers and encouraged them to regard their elevation as a call to greater responsibility, leadership, and accountability. They further urged all officers of the Service to continue upholding the highest standards of professionalism, loyalty, and service to the public.

The Ghana Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to recognising merit and rewarding excellence, noting that such measures are essential for boosting morale and enhancing effective policing across the country.
