Political activist Oliver Barker-Vormawor has responded to the summons from the Parliamentary Appointments Committee, expressing his readiness to appear before the committee to address his allegations of bribery and corruption. In a tweet from his official Twitter (X) handle, Barker-Vormawor stated, “This is how a Democracy improves. I look forward to appearing before the Appointments Committee tomorrow.”
The activist’s response comes after he was summoned by Bernard Ahiafor, Chairman of the Appointments Committee, to substantiate his claims that ministerial nominees were being asked to pay fees to secure approval.
The allegations, initially made in a Facebook post, have caused significant disruption within Parliament, with some members calling for the suspension of the committee’s activities until the matter is resolved.
The upcoming hearing, scheduled for Wednesday, January 29, at 10 AM, is expected to address this ongoing controversy. The outcome could have far-reaching implications for the integrity of the Appointments Committee and the broader political process in Ghana.
