Heartbreaking Vigil Held for Two Girls Killed in East Legon Accident

A solemn vigil was held on Friday, October 18, to honor the lives of Justine Agbenu and Maame Dwomoh, two 12-year-old girls who tragically died in a horrific accident at East Legon. The girls were students of Cornerstone International Academy.

The emotional ceremony took place at the site of the accident, marked by candlelight, prayers, and moving tributes from family members, friends, and the local community. Mourners, overcome with grief, held candles and flowers while reflecting in silence. Photo frames of the two girls were displayed, deepening the sorrowful atmosphere.

The tragic accident occurred when 16-year-old Elrad Salifu Amoako, son of Bishop Salifu Amoako, lost control of a Jaguar SUV and crashed into a 4×4 Acura vehicle driven by Joseph Ackah. The collision caused both vehicles to catch fire, with the occupants of the Acura burned beyond recognition.

Following the incident, Bishop Salifu and his wife, Mouha Amoako, were arrested and brought before the High Court in Accra. They were later granted bail. The couple, along with Linda Bonsu Bempah, have been charged with “Permitting an unlicensed person to drive.”

In an emotional video shared on social media, Bishop Salifu publicly begged the families of the deceased girls for forgiveness, praying for God to provide them strength during this difficult time.
