Suspected gunmen have abducted an unconfirmed number of students and staff from a Catholic boarding school in Niger State, deepening growing fears over insecurity in northern Nigeria. Although the exact number of victims remains unclear, multiple local sources indicate that several students were taken during the attack.

Arise TV has reported that as many as 52 individuals may have been abducted, though authorities have not yet confirmed this figure. Police and military personnel have since been deployed to comb nearby forests in an effort to locate and rescue the victims.

The incident comes just days after 25 students were kidnapped in Kebbi State, underscoring the worsening security crisis affecting educational institutions across the region. The situation escalated further on Thursday when more than 50 schools were forced to shut down in Kwara State following repeated bandit incursions.
