The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has released the officially approved fees for the University of Ghana for the 2025/2026 academic year, in a move aimed at addressing concerns and ensuring clarity around the university’s fee structure.
In a statement issued on Monday, January 12, 2026, and signed by the Director-General, Ahmed Jinapor Abdulai, GTEC announced that the Academic Facility User Fee will remain unchanged from the 2024/2025 academic year. This decision means there will be no increase in that particular fee for students.
According to the Commission, other approved charges include Student Representative Council (SRC) dues of GH₵50, an SRC Development Levy of GH₵150, and a Graduate Students Association of Ghana (GRASAG) Development Levy of GH₵250.
The statement also confirmed a Telecel Broadband Levy of GH₵122, which applies to undergraduate students, including freshers.
In addition, GTEC introduced a 75th Anniversary Levy of GH₵100. The Commission clarified that this levy will only apply during the 2025/2026 academic year and will not be extended beyond the period.
GTEC further advised that students should be adequately informed about their rights, including the ability to opt out of certain levies where applicable. The Commission described the release of the approved fees as part of efforts to promote transparency and ensure compliance within the university system.
“This announcement seeks to resolve issues surrounding the 2025/2026 fee schedule for the University of Ghana. We are counting on the usual cooperation of all stakeholders to implement it effectively,” the statement said.
