Government Applauded by Greater Accra AGI Chairman for Tax Relief Measures in 2024 Budget

The Chairman of the Greater Accra Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), Tsonam Cleanse Akpeloo, has commended the government for its recent actions in the 2024 budget, particularly praising the removal of specific taxes.

One notable mention in Akpeloo’s commendation was the elimination of taxes imposed on locally manufactured sanitary pads. This move was especially welcomed by the AGI, as they had long advocated for the removal of duties on imported raw materials utilized in producing sanitary pads within the country.

Speaking on Citi TV’s *The Point of View* with Bernard Avle, Mr. Akpeloo expressed his satisfaction, labeling the government’s actions as a positive step forward. He specifically highlighted the exemption of zero VAT for the garment and textile sector among the welcomed measures.

Expressing further optimism, Akpeloo stated, “So, off the top of my head, it is really a good move, and we welcome those measures, and we look forward to dealing with the others we are asking for.”

Moreover, he emphasized the significance of reducing government expenditure to address critical economic concerns like inflation, interest rates, and the cost of borrowing. Akpeloo firmly believed that curbing government spending would contribute significantly to economic stability.
