Government allocates GH¢150 million for Black Stars’ 2026 World Cup campaign

The government has set aside GH¢150 million to support the Black Stars’ participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the Minister for Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, has announced.

Presenting the 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy to Parliament on Thursday, November 13, Dr Forson said the allocation reflects government’s ongoing commitment to sports development and Ghana’s representation at major international events.

He explained that the funds will cover the Black Stars’ preparations, logistics, and participation in the global tournament, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Beyond the World Cup allocation, Dr Forson revealed that GH¢200 million has been earmarked for the construction of mini stadiums across Ghana to boost grassroots sports and nurture young talent.

He also disclosed that GH¢150 million has been allocated for the purchase of fire tenders and equipment to enhance the operational capacity of the Ghana National Fire Service.
