GIS to Repatriate Eight Foreign Nationals Convicted Over Illegal QNET Activities

The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has announced plans to repatriate eight foreign nationals who were convicted for engaging in illegal activities under the guise of QNET after completing their custodial sentences.

In a press release issued on Monday, January 14, 2026, the Service stated that the individuals were arrested in August 2025 and subsequently convicted on September 9, 2025. Each of the convicts served a six-month prison sentence at the Nsawam Medium Security Prison.

According to the GIS, the convicted persons include Alabe Sanga, Mohammed Jazaw, and Soulemane Biibal, all Burkinabé nationals; Mafo Clareisse and Modesto Forgane, who are Cameroonian nationals; and Sylvie Amatala, Doubo Prince, and Ben Kaze, all Togolese nationals.

Following the completion of their sentences, the individuals were transferred from the Nsawam Prisons to the Immigration Service Holding Centre in Accra, where they remain in lawful custody pending their deportation.

The GIS disclosed that the repatriation process has already begun, with most of the convicted persons returned to their respective countries of origin. The remaining three Burkinabé nationals are expected to be deported by the end of the week.

The Service commended members of the public for their cooperation and support, noting that public intelligence played a key role in the arrest and successful prosecution of the offenders. The GIS reiterated its commitment to clamping down on illegal activities and safeguarding national security.
