GH¢177m Allocated to Settle Nursing Trainee Allowance Arrears – Vice President Bawumia

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has announced the allocation of GH¢177 million to the Ministry of Health to settle outstanding allowances owed to nursing trainees nationwide.

The nursing trainee allowance, which had accrued arrears for several months, was reinstated by the Akufo-Addo administration after being previously abolished.

During a meeting with nurses and midwives in Accra, Dr. Bawumia confirmed that the funds would be disbursed on Thursday.

“This Thursday, the Controller is transferring GH¢177 million to the Ministry of Health to pay the nursing trainee allowances. I have informed Dr. Okoe-Boye to be ready when the funds reach the Ministry of Health’s account so they can promptly transfer it to the accounts of the nursing trainees. The allowances will be deposited soon,” Dr. Bawumia stated.
