Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has projected that Ghana’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) will grow by 4.4% by the end of 2025.

Speaking during the 2025 budget presentation in Parliament, Dr. Forson further revealed that the non-oil GDP is anticipated to expand at an even higher rate of 5.3%, underscoring the government’s efforts to drive economic growth and diversification.

“Mr. Speaker, to achieve our broad macroeconomic goals, we have set the following key targets for the 2025 fiscal year: an overall real GDP growth of at least 4.4% and a non-oil real GDP growth of at least 5.3%,” Dr. Forson stated.

This forecast reflects the country’s gradual economic recovery following years of economic challenges, including the lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, inflationary pressures, and debt constraints.

The government attributes the expected growth to improved productivity across key sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, and services.

Ghana’s economic performance has fluctuated in recent years due to domestic and global economic pressures. In 2023, the GDP growth rate was approximately 3.2%, largely impacted by fiscal constraints and global economic slowdowns. However, by 2024, the economy showed signs of recovery, with real GDP growth estimated at 3.8%.

The projected 4.4% growth in 2025 is expected to be driven by fiscal discipline, strengthened revenue collection, and increased investment in priority sectors, reinforcing the government’s commitment to sustainable economic expansion.
